The days leading up to this session we were experiencing unexpected rain. Each day I would check to see the forecast and the day prior to our session there was warning of thunderstorms. I spoke to Santana about rescheduling but both of agreed to 'weather the storm' or so to speak. On my way to our location I could see the black sky out in the distance and knew time was not on our side.
There was such a peacefulness to this shoot. It was a session of few words. The images tell a story. A story of power and strength. A story of a fierce mama on her own doing her utter best in raising her daughter. The storm rolled in. We kept shooting as the river began to rise. Then the gusts of wind blew up and the rain began to fall as a sign that our session was closing.
